We are pleased to offer some fine art from the ancient Americas. Please note that all these artifacts come from legal sources and are derived from old collections. More Precolumbian artifacts are presented on pages 2 to 10.
However, we regret that we are unable to sell several items to American clients due to US import retrictions.

PC1 A good-sized Nazca polychrome collared spherical olla from southern Peru, c. 0-600 A.D. : £ 350

A good-sized Nazca collared spherical olla with two perforated lug handles, measuring 150 mm/5.5 ins. high and 137 mm/5.2 ins. in diameter. The upper part decorated with polychrome depictions of two mythological creatures with human heads and protruding tongues. A v-shaped chip on the rim collar, some minor surface wear, otherwise condition good. Southern Peru, c. 0-600 A.D.
Previously in a private Florida collection and acquired by them over 30 years ago. Supplied with a perspex ring stand.

Reference: Plate XI (No. 3) in Putnam, E.K., 1914, The Davenport Collection of Nazca and other Peruvian Pottery, Proceedings of the Davenport Academy of Sciences, Vol. XIII, 17-46, for a very similar example showing the same mythological creature.

PC2 A good-sized Michoacan spouted squash vessel from Tzintzuntzan, western central Mexico, 1450-1520 A.D. : £ 450

A good-sized Michoacan spouted squash vessel with ribbed bowl, measuring 156 mm/6 ins. high and 182 mm/7.5 ins. in diameter. The vessel painted medium brown, and repaired from approximately twenty original pieces with restoration over the exterior breaklines, but an imposing vessel from the Tarascan culture. From Tzintzuntzan, western central Mexico, 1450-1520 A.D.
Previously in a private Florida collection and acquired by them over 30 years ago.

PC3 A Late Nazca polychrome bowl, Peru, c. 600 A.D. : £ 350

Late Nazca polychrome bowl, the painted design showing three ?lizard-like creatures painted in green, orange and cream against a white background. Bowl measures 184 mm/7.2 ins. in diameter and 60 mm/2.9 ins. in height. Repaired from two half pieces and some restoration to the rim, otherwise in good condition and a nice example of the type. Peru, c. 600 A.D.

PC4 An Inca bronze star-shaped macehead, c. 1200-1500 A.D.  : £ 185

An Inca bronze star-shaped spiked macehead, with six spikes in all, measuring 97 mm/3.82 ins. in diameter.  One spike broken and lost with a horizontal fracture, otherwise intact. Has been cleaned, resulting in loss of patina, but a nice solid example, Peru, c. 1200-1500 A.D.

PC5 A Chancay twin-handled figural amphora, Peru, c. 1000-1450 A.D. : £ 485

Chancay twin-handled amphora of rounded oval form with opposing lug handles and moulded neck. Vessel measuring 246 mm/9.7 ins. high and 183 mm/7.2 ins. across the handles. Shoulders decorated on either side with a figure of a monkey, the body painted with a stylised face on neck and bands of geometric ornament in umber on a white slip ground (rear). Some minor rubbing of the decoration, but otherwise condition good. Peru, c. 1000-1450 A.D. Supplied with a perspex stand.
