PC57 A Chancay figural vessel with thermoluminescence certificate, Peru, c. 1300 A.D. : £ 395 NEW!

A Chancay figural vessel modelled as a seated male figure, with pointed hunchback and barrel-chest, wearing a cylindrical jester type hat which forms the neck of the vessel. Vessel measures 142 mm/5.6 ins. high. The vessel painted cream, with the hat, vest and facial details painted in deep brown. Some minor paint loss and some small inoffensive rim chips, otherwise in very good condition and a piece of considerable charm, Peru, c. 1300 A.D.
Previously in a German private collection and supplied with a thermoluminescence certificate from Laboratory Ralf Kotalla, Haigerloch, Germany, dating from November 1981.

Regretfully, we are unable to sell this item to American clients due to US import restrictions.

PC58 A Zapotec grayware jaguar paw vessel with claws extended, southern Mexico, c. 800-1200 A.D. : SOLD

A Zapotec greyware jaguar paw vessel, with claws extended, measuring 82 mm/3.22 ins. high, a single claw extending mid-height from the side of the vessel. Some losses to the claws and a rim chip, otherwise intact and an attractive example, southern Mexico, c. 800 - 1200 A.D.
Ex. Edmund Budde Sr. Collection, New York State, USA, and acquired by him in the 1950s.

PC59 A large Mayan red burnished olla, from Tiquisate, Guatemala, c. 600-900 A.D. : SOLD

A large Mayan red burnished olla, measuring 155 mm/6.1 ins. high and 195 mm/7.7 ins. in diameter. Subspherical in shape with thin incised lines on the upper shoulder, originally with a pedestal base, but this now missing. Some minor wear to the surface and some hairline cracks, but sound. From Tiquisate, Pacific Coast Guatemala, c. 600 - 900 A.D.

PC60 A Mayan moulded pottery figural whistle, c. 500-800 A.D. : £ 48 NEW!

A Mayan double-chambered moulded pottery figural whistle, measuring 58 mm/2.3 ins. high, and surmounted by a stylised head. A hole in one of the chamber walls, otherwise intact, from southern Mexico or Guatemala, c. 500 - 800 A.D.

PC61 A Calima terracotta effigy vessel with thermoluminescence certificate, Columbia, c. 1250 A.D. : SOLD

A Calima terracotta effigy vessel, in orange fabric, measuring 135 mm/5.3 ins. high, styled as a male with basket on his back (which forms the vessel), squatting with arms resting on knees. An incised necklace below neck, and double-ridge hair style. Some hairline cracks, otherwise condition good, Columbia, c. 1250 A.D.
Accompanied by a thermoluminescence test certificate from Laboratory Ralf Kotalla, Haigerloch, Germany, confirming age.

PC62 A Zapotec figural urn from Monte Alban, Mexico, c. 300-600 A.D. : SOLD

A Zapotec figural urn measuring 245 mm/9.6 ins. high, in the form of an elaborately adorned deity wearing a headdress. Made from dark brown clay, with right arm and both feet missing, and the nose chipped, but otherwise in good condition. From the important site of Monte Alban, Mexico, Early Classic period, circa 300 - 600 A.D.
